Note: BITSAT is typically conducted in two sessions (Session I and Session II).

BITSAT Exam Format Highlights

  • The exam is a **Computer Based Test (CBT)** lasting 3 hours.
  • It has four compulsory sections plus one optional section (English and Logical Reasoning).
  • No time limit for individual sections, allowing flexible time management.
  • Unique feature: Ability to attempt **12 bonus questions** if the initial 130 are completed.

1. Eligibility Checklist

Academic Qualification

  • Must have **passed Class 12** in 2025 or be **appearing** in 2026.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or earlier are **NOT eligible**.
  • There is no age limit for BITSAT.

Minimum Marks Required

  • **Aggregate:** Minimum 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology taken together.
  • **Individual Subjects:** Minimum 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

Subject Mapping

  • **B.E. Programs:** PCM is mandatory.
  • **B.Pharm Program:** PCB stream candidates are also eligible to apply.
  • Admission to the integrated M.Sc. programs also requires meeting the same criteria.

*BITSAT uses a single application form for both sessions. You must decide whether to appear for one or both at the time of initial registration.

4. BITSAT Exam Structure & Pattern (CBT)

The test is comprised of **4 main sections** with a standard total of 130 questions. The total time allotted is **3 hours**.

Scoring & Bonus Questions

  • **Standard Scoring:** +3 Marks for every correct answer; -1 Mark is deducted for every incorrect answer (Negative Marking).
  • **Bonus Questions:** If you complete the initial 130 questions before the 3-hour limit, you get a chance to attempt **12 extra questions** (4 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Maths/Biology). Note: Once you opt for the bonus questions, you cannot go back to review or modify the initial 130 questions.

Registration & Fee Payment

Register with basic details and pay the fee, selecting whether you will attempt **Session I only, Session II only, or both sessions**. This choice impacts your application fee.

Form Filling & Exam Center Selection

Fill in detailed academic information, and select your **preferred test cities** for the BITSAT exam. Upload your photograph and signature according to the specified limits.

Slot Booking & Admit Card

BITSAT requires mandatory **Slot Booking**. Based on your preferred cities, you choose the exact date and time slot for your exam (separately for Session I and Session II). Download the Hall Ticket immediately after booking.
